Who is MMC for?
International school families and serious adult learners who want measurable progress, not app streaks. We take total beginners through HSK 1, and carry advanced learners to HSK 5 and 6 for university in China.
Aren't all Mandarin schools the same?
No. Most schools let anyone who "speaks Mandarin" teach. Every MMC teacher holds a Bachelor's + Master's in Teaching Chinese as International Language. Our educators teach Mandarin to foreigners at Chinese universities and write the textbooks. That's a different category.
I tried Mandarin before and gave up. Is it me?
Almost certainly not. One student came to us after 9 years of lessons still stuck at HSK 3. New method, same student, reached HSK 4 in 8 months. You're not bad at Mandarin. You were given the wrong method.
Am I too old to start?
No. Our co-founder Lynda started at 17 from zero and finished Bachelor's + Master's fully in Mandarin in China. Adult learners actually do well with structured methodology because they know how to study. Age isn't the variable. Method is.
Can I just learn Mandarin by myself with an app?
Apps are useful for supplement drilling. But tones need a human to correct you, and speaking needs a live partner. If your foundation is wrong, it takes 3× longer to fix later. Start with a trained teacher, use apps as support.
Isn't a native speaker enough as a teacher?
Being native is not a teaching qualification. HSK is a test for students. TCIL (Teaching Chinese as International Language) is the qualification for teachers. Ask any Mandarin tutor: "What did you major in for your Bachelor's and Master's?" If it's not TCIL, think twice.
MMC looks expensive. How is that justified?
Don't measure cost per month. Measure cost per result. A typical tutor at SGD 500/month over 9 years = SGD 54,000, often still only HSK 2. Our fast-track zero-to-HSK-5 path is 9.5 months, SGD 8,250. Singapore efficiency means faster real outcomes, not cheaper hourly rates.
How is MMC different from Duolingo or italki?

Do I need to know any Mandarin before I start?
No. HSK 1+2 Foundation is built for absolute zero. We start with pinyin and tones on day one.
What if I miss a class?
Every class is recorded. You can rewatch anytime and drill that week's vocab and grammar on the platform.
How fast can I pass HSK 4 or HSK 5?
Our standard track reaches HSK 4 in 8 months. Our intensive track has taken students from zero to HSK 5 in 7 months. Your pace depends on hours you put in outside class.
